Celebrating 20 Years at Servaclean: Neil’s Journey as Sales Project Manager

We’re excited to celebrate Neil’s incredible 20-year milestone at Servaclean!  As one of our Sales Project Managers, Neil has been a key player in our success, bringing in new leads and providing great service to our clients.  His knowledge and attention to detail in planning bar layouts to meet the individual operating needs of a venue, through to managing the installations and handover, have really made a difference for our company.

To mark this special occasion, we asked Neil a few questions about his experiences and the insights he’s gained over the years.

What made you want to join Servaclean 20 years ago, and how has your journey been so far?

Coming from a customer-service based role it was a chance to do something ‘a bit different’ and certainly more varied, whilst also being able to draw on skills and principles from my past job.

Can you share a memorable project that stands out to you?

Marriott Hotel, Leicester. The 1st big project I dealt with on my own.  A big job, with 4 x bars on it.  I remember sitting in the car for 10mins to psych myself up before going into each site meeting and in one of them, waiting my turn to discuss Bar elements and then having to sit there for another couple of hours whilst the PM and Client went through Planting schemes for the Hotel grounds, Fire extinguishers, delivery routes into site etc. – all because I didn’t have the confidence to pipe up and ask to leave.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Establishing relationships with Clients and other stakeholders and the varied nature of the role.  Planning my own week and movements around the country to suit needs of my clients.

How have you seen the industry change during your time here?

There’s definitely a lot more that could ‘catch you out’ on jobs nowadays.  We have a lot more detail to check on each Project than when I first started but we also offer a lot more products/sizes to get round problems/offer solutions.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in this field?

In the words of a fine man “Keep smiling, keep taking the pills…”.

What are you looking forward to in the next part of your career at Servaclean?

To continue doing ‘a proper job’ for our clients.
