Servaclean’s Design and Build of Bars for Edinburgh Gin Distillery

Edinburgh Gin was founded in 2010 by David Robertson and a group of distillers with the goal of crafting a high-quality gin that reflects Scotland’s rich heritage. Made in small batches, it incorporates traditional botanicals and locally sourced ingredients, including juniper and citrus peels. Notably, it was among the first gins produced in Edinburgh in more than 150 years, marking a revival in the city’s gin production.

In 2016, it became part of Ian Macleod Distillers, which helped expand its reach while maintaining its small-batch approach and commitment to quality.

Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd contacted Servaclean regarding their latest venture, The Arches, a new distillery for Edinburgh Gin. The Arches provides a unique distillery experience, bringing a touch of magic to the heart of Scotland’s capital. The premises come complete with a state-of-the-art distillery and a variety of engaging visitor experiences such as classic tours, cocktail classes and gin making.

Servaclean was responsible for the design, manufacturing, and installation of two fully operational bars on the first and second floors of The Arches at Edinburgh Gin, both supplied with refrigeration units.

The first floor boasts a tasting bar, along with a preparation room and a glass washing area cleverly tucked away at the back, ensuring a tidy environment that allows the gin tasting to shine. On the second floor, there’s a versatile bar counter, ideal for hosting the various experiences that Edinburgh Gin has to offer.

Andy Royston, Managing Director at Servaclean, collaborated closely with the interior design and branding agency Four by Two, along with the main contractor for the overall construction project, George Sharkey and Sons Ltd. The aim was to make sure that the bar systems integrated perfectly into the venue while delivering the desired look and functionality that The Arches required.
